Common Questions About Paper Labels

Everything you need to know about choosing the right paper stock for your product.

We keep over 120 types of specialty label face-stock in regular inventory from leading global manufacturers. Our materials range from natural-textured and classic-patterned specialty papers to bright silver and high-transparency films. Many of our stocks feature ice bucket resistance, high humidity applicability, scratch resistance, cold chain suitability, and compatibility with small diameter labeling. We also carry innovative face-stocks such as metal, aluminum foil, leather, flocking, cork, and handmade deckle edge paper for truly unique textures.
Yes. For ice bucket applications such as white wine, sparkling wine, and champagne, we offer specialty paper labels with excellent waterproof and moisture resistant properties. Even after long immersion in ice water, they remain smooth in appearance without wrinkling or peeling, ensuring a perfect presentation in chilled environments.
We select face-stocks with waterproof and moisture resistance based on the label's application scenario, combined with waterproof adhesives and moisture resistant inks. During production, protective finishes such as varnishing are also applied to enhance durability, ensuring the labels remain smooth, secure, and visually appealing for extended periods in ice bucket and other cold, high humidity environments.
Products that need to be used in low temperature, high humidity, or ice water environments. White wine, sparkling wine, and champagne are recommended to use ice bucket resistant labels to avoid wrinkling, peeling, or deformation. Most red wines and spirits that are displayed at room temperature or only briefly refrigerated do not require this level of resistance.
For bottle necks and small diameter containers, we recommend ultra-thin flexible face-stocks such as 50-60 μm PP/PE films or 60-90 g/m² soft art papers that do not rebound after application. These are paired with high tack adhesives using cold-temperature or elastomer-based formulations that provide quick adhesion and prevent edge lifting even in low temperature conditions.
Start by applying the label onto a clean, dry bottle surface with a roller or squeegee, pressing from the center outward. Then hold the bottle against a strong light source and check through the glass for light spots indicating incomplete adhesive bonding. Let the bottle rest for 24 hours at room temperature (20-25°C, 40-60% RH). If there's no edge lifting or bubbling, the label is good to go. For products exposed to high humidity or cold chain conditions, we recommend an additional 72-hour observation period. Testing 2-3 bottles at once gives the most reliable results.
For best results, ensure the workshop, bottles, and labels are all above 5°C, with labels conditioned for 12-24 hours in advance. Humidity should be between 35-65% RH. Bottles must be free of dust, oil, and condensation. Labeling pressure for standard labels generally ranges from 40-80 N. For machine application, roller pressure of 150-300 kPa is typical. For hand application, use a squeegee or soft roller to apply even pressure with no silvering or bubbles. After application, store at 20-25°C / 40-60% RH for 24 hours to confirm stable adhesion. Under proper storage conditions, most label materials have a shelf life of 12 months.
